Gran Fondo Suggests

Going Dutch   printer

Yes, we know that we are absolute road nerds... We get excited when we find a new little connector or a great piece of road, especially when it is something that we've ridden past for years. We discovered just such a gem when one of the damaged bridges on Leiper's Creek Road near Fly, TN caused us to take a quick left onto Dutch Potts Road.

We were expecting to be on Skelley (a gravel detour 2 miles up LC road), but we ended up with a 1.7 mile gravel connection to the Old Trace, a waterfall, and a great climb! Leave the carbon race wheels at home and check this one out the next time you head home from Fly.

When you finish the climb and reach the pavement at Old Natchez, just ride NE on Old Natchez to Doug Thompson (L), South Lick Creek (R), Greenbrier (L) and on up to Bending Chestnut/Garrison Creek. You'll find this a delightful alternative to the same old grind on Leiper's Creek Road.

Right off our beaten path, this 1.7 miles of Vitamin G (gravel, you know) is just the ticket to put a smile on your face. And don't worry, no trailer trucks will be passing you on this one.

OK, so the picture of the water fall is a little blurry...

Looking up the first part of the climb.

Looking back...

One last thing - If you are shy about this gravel stuff, just remember that the Gran Fondo Women's group discovered and conquered this one.
