Gran Fondo Supports the Multi-Sport Community
Gran Fondo Cycles can provide athletes with everything they need to compete in or just complete any multi-sport event. The shop stocks everything from tri and time trial specific bicycles and frames to aerobars and triathlon clothing from Louis Garneau and Sugoi.
Whether we help set up an old road frame for a competition or help order a brand new tri bike, finding the right fit is crucial to an athlete's comfort and efficiency. Frame size, saddle height and position, cleat placement and handle/aero bar position all come into play when helping each individual athlete find the set up that best suits them and their goals. Our staff will be happy to help you set up your bike or tweak your current position to achieve maximum comfort and/or efficiency.
Multi-Sport Bicycles
Gran Fondo Cycles has a variety of bikes available for the multi-sport athlete at any level. Cannondale and Orbea offer either complete bikes or frames specifically designed for triathletes. Cannondale, the official bike of the Ironman, has four complete bike offerings.
The recently released Ironman 5000 is every triathlete's dream. With the newly designed Slice Aero frame, the folks at Cannondale shaved off a half pound from the old design to produce an aerodynamic aluminum frame that weighs in at 3.4 pounds. The frame features a tear-drop shaped down tube and a Speed Shadow seat tube with a cut out for the rear wheel, allowing for optimal aerodynamics. In addition to the Slice Aero frame, the new Ironman 5000 comes with Shimano's new 10 speed Dura Ace group, the sleek Zipp 404 wheelset, a Reynolds Ouzo Pro Aero fork, and Profile Ironman Carbon Stryke aerobars.

Orbea offers their super stiff Lobular frame in a tri specific geometry for the athlete who wants to build up their dream tri bike. The Lobular Tri bike is built completely from Lobular tubing, the same alloy as Starship tubing, only in a more muscular, durable wall thickness. Orbea custom forms the top and down tubes into four distinct lobes, allowing both a degree of vertical compliance and vibration dissipation. A 76º seat angle puts you in the optimal aero-power position for time trials and triathlons. Add to that full-size 700c wheels for lower rolling resistance and gearing consistent with your road bike.
